 Articulating Carpal with Rigid Metacarpal 

  • The articulating carpal and  rigid metacarpophalangeal orthotic provides supportive articulation at the carpal joint while fixating the paw in normal stance position.

Potential User

  • Knuckling over
  • Chronic Carpal and Metacarpophalangeal Instabilities
  • Stabilization during high activity use
  • Requiring long-term post injury support
  • Requiring long-term post surgery support

Function

  • Provides external support to the carpal joint and metacarpal phalanges.
  • Free range of motion or a controlled range of motion  carpal joint with rigid support of the paw.
  • Preventing the nails, digits and paws from dragging on the ground and creating sores

Fabrication

  • Rocker bottom design of the orthotic palmer aspect to facilitate a smooth natural gait cycle.
  • Positions the paw and digits in a normal position and thus preventing the paw from dragging and creating sores. 
  • Veterinary tamarack joint.
  • Vacuum formed thermoplastic.
  • Lined with a soft foam interface.
  • Flared proximal end.
  • Velcro padded strapping system for optimal suspension. Controlling migration of the orthosis when the canine is active.
