A cast mold is required to fabricate a custom made orthotic or prosthetic. The cast of the animal should be taken in the most functional position possible. If casting a front or hind leg for an ambulatory animal, it's important that the paw, carpal, elbow, hock or stifle is aligned in a normal standing alignment. Spending the time necessary to take a good cast directly effects the fabrication and well-fitting of the device. When your cast or model is received by Kinetic Paws, we will review the cast and call you to discuss your specific patient's case if we have any questions.
